Button, the area where excess molten silver collects thereby allowing a completed casting.
This is a flat piece of wax that the molten silver will be replacing to form the electrode body.
The threaded Nylon bolt, attached to green wax, both of which will be vaporized during the heating stage of the investment casting material, which leaves a cavity duplicating the exact shape seen here, when the molten silver is slung into this vacant area thereby producing the semi finished electrode.
Sprues - like tiny pipes that allow excess molten silver to over flow into the button, so that the total casting will be filled without any vacancies (holes, bubbles or an incomplete casting). These silver sprues are cut off so, then ground smooth and the electrode is then buffed.
